VIETRADE - The Industries-Trade Services reported, in a 5-year period of 2003 – 2008, local industrial output value of NKER averaged growth of 22.24%, higher than the natural average (about 17%), exceeding regional target plan. The non-state industrial sector with foreign investment input has always led in growth, 25-32%. In certain period, such localities as Bac Ninh showed 60% industrial growth, Hai Duong nearing 40%, Vinh Phuc above 40%. Hanoi, in particular, showed highest industrial output value yet lowest growth (averaging 13 – 15%).
NKER industrial production features variety; certain products are playing major roles in the national socio-economic development such as coal, raw and processed (95% volume share of national production), steel (1/3 volume share of national production), cement (1/3 volume share). Yet, the region takes a modest ranking in electric power, 31% out the national output, beer, 88%...
As regards structural shifts, the past period witnessed positive changes in economic sectors composition and economic structures conform to Decision 154/QD/ 2204/QD-TTg pointing direction on the socioeconomic development in NKER to the year 2010 and vision to 2020. The foreign investment economic sector plays a key role, taking an ever increase share: (2005, 35.8% - 2006, 37.4% - 2007, 45%). Growth in consecutive years exceeds previous years: (2007, 29.9% - 2006, 25.6% - 2005, 23.7%). State industries (central government, local government) de-escalate: (2005, 33.9% - 2006, 30.6% - 2007, 26%). Non-state industrial sector escalates but unsteadily (2005, 30.26% - 2006, 32% - 2007, 30%).
Proportional share of industries construction in 2007 was 46%, close to target GDP structure by 2010 (47.65%). Certain provinces holding industrial-construction shares in GDP higher than the national average of 41.6% are namely Vinh Phuc (61.06%, Hai Duong (44%), Bac Ninh (51%), Hung Yen (47%), Quang Ninh (53%). Those with shares lower than the national average are Hanoi (40.91%), Hai Phong (37.5%), Ha Tay (41.53% previously).
